The Brian O. Lisle Trophy is for the fastest time of all entries.
The Julie Basham Trophy is for the fastest time by a female in a recreation canoe or kayak.
In addition to the above categories, the boat turning in the fastest time of all persons in Junior (under age 18), Junior/Adult (one under age 18 and one age 18 or older), Master (age 40-49), Senior (age 50-59), Veteran (age 60-69) or Grand Veteran (age 70 or older) age classes, win a trophy.
The Junior / Adult Category is restricted to recreational canoe and kayak classes only.
Aluminum and USCA classes are eligible in all other categories.
As examples:
A crew with a 21 year old (adult) and a 71 year old (grand veteran) crew, races as adult.
A crew with a 51 year old (senior) and a 40 year old (master) crew, races as Master.
Definitions: Time Disqualification
All boats must turn around at the Hebron Parkway bridge buoy within 1 hour and 30 minutes of their start or be disqualified. At that time, the safety sweep boat will launch from Hebron Parkway bridge to collect racers, who did not reach the turn around buoy. That way, everyone will be back at start / finish in time for lunch and awards ceremony. The race chairman may elect to extend or eliminate the time disqualification due to adverse river or weather conditions.
The Application: Complete the application. Give two telephone numbers, if possible, and a fax number if you have one.
Race Fees: Cost is $20.00 per racer during the pre-registration period of June 15 to September 1, and $25.00 per racer after September 1.
The Waiver: The Waiver of Liability must be signed and will be made available with race registration information and at the race registration booth. If the participant is under the age of 18, then his or her parent or guardian must complete and sign the waiver.
The Course: The Trinity River Challenge start / finish is the concrete boat ramp at McInnish Park in Carrollton. The course is 5.9 miles upstream to turn around a bouy at Hebron Parkway bridge and return to the start / finish line at McInnish Park.
Directions To Start / Finish Line: The Start / Finish line is at McInnish Park boat ramp on the Elm Fork of the Trinity River in Carrollton. Take IH 35E to the Sandy Lake Road / Whitlock Lane exit (Exit 444), and then go West approximately 1 to 1.5 miles. McInnish Park entrance will be on the left (just before crossing the Trinity River bridge). Turn in to the left and proceed about 50 yards, then turn right on the first park road, and follow it under Sandy Lake Road to the parking lot at the Trinity River boat ramp.
River Clean Up: Dallas Downriver Club has river clean up trips the two Saturdays before the race. You are invited to join us if you would like to help or just look at the course.
