Definitions: Age on Race Day, September 8, 2007

Junior	all persons under 18 years of age.
Junior / Adult	one person under 18 years of age, one person 18 years of age or older.
Adult	all persons 18 to 39 years of age.
Master	all persons 40 to 49 years of age.
Senior	all persons 50 to 59 years of age.
Veteran	all persons 60 to 69 years of age.
Grand Veteran	all persons 70 or more years of age.

Definitions: Racing Classes (ALL CLASSES ARE NOW CO-ED)

Recreation Classes	Refer to TRC XII Rules for specifications.
101 - Solo Canoe	Any canoe under 18'6" in length paddled by ONE PERSON WITH SINGLE BLADE PADDLES ONLY (solo paddlers over age 50 may use double blade paddle.)
102 - Tandem Canoe	Any canoe under 18'6" in length paddled by TWO PERSONS WITH SINGLE BLADE PADDLES ONLY.
103 - Tandem Aluminum Canoe	Any ALUMINUM canoe under 17'6" in length paddled by TWO PERSONS WITH SINGLE BLADE PADDLES ONLY.
201 - Solo Whitewater/Small Rec. Kayak	Any solo kayak, sit-on-top kayak or surf ski with a maximum length of 10' paddled by ONE PERSON WITH A DOUBLE BLADE PADDLE.
202 - Solo Recreation Kayak	Any solo kayak, sit-on-top kayak or surf ski with a minimum length of 10'1" and a maximum length of 16' with a 4" waterline width of at least 22" paddled by ONE PERSON WITH A DOUBLE BLADE PADDLE.
203 - Solo Sea Kayak	Any solo sea kayak under 18' with a 4" waterline beam of at least 8.5% of length, and bulkheads and hatches fore and aft (EXCEPT USCA boats) paddled by ONE PERSON WITH A DOUBLE BLADE PADDLE.
204 - Solo Touring Kayak	Any solo touring kayak under 20 with a 4" waterline beam of at least 18" paddled by ONE PERSON WITH A DOUBLE BLADE PADDLE.
205 - Tandem Kayak	Any tandem kayak, sit-on-top kayak or surf ski paddled by TWO PERSONS WITH DOUBLE BLADE PADDLES.
USCA Classes	Refer to the the Official Race Rules for details. Only persons competing for USCA or TCRA points may register for USCA class. USCA class boats will be inspected and classification assigned at registration.
301 - USCA C1	USCA canoe with one person using a single blade paddle ONLY, and NO rudder or external steering device.
302 - USCA C2	USCA canoe with two persons using single blade paddles ONLY, and NO rudder or external steering device.
303 - USCA K1	USCA kayak with one person using a single or double blade paddle.
304 - USCA K2	USCA kayak with two persons using single or double blade paddles.
305 - USCA Unlimited	Any boat with MORE THAN TWO PERSONS will be registered as Unlimited Only.
	Each canoe is limited to one (1) or two (2) people, except unlimited class boats.

Co-Ed - Men and women race in same division

Definitions: Special Awards

The Brian O. Lisle Trophy is for the fastest time of all entries.

The Julie Basham Trophy is for the fastest time by a female in a recreation canoe or kayak.

In addition to the above categories, the boat turning in the fastest time of all persons in
Junior (under age 18), Junior/Adult (one under age 18 and one age 18 or older), Master (age 40-49),
Senior (age 50-59), Veteran (age 60-69) or Grand Veteran (age 70 or older) age classes, win a trophy.

The Junior / Adult Category is restricted to recreational canoe and kayak classes only.

Aluminum and USCA classes are eligible in all other categories.

As examples:

A crew with a 21 year old (adult) and a 71 year old (grand veteran) crew, races as adult.

A crew with a 51 year old (senior) and a 40 year old (master) crew, races as Master.

Definitions: Time Disqualification

All boats must turn around at the Hebron Parkway bridge buoy within 1 hour and 30 minutes of their start or be disqualified. At that time, the safety sweep boat will launch from Hebron Parkway bridge to collect racers, who did not reach the turn around buoy. That way, everyone will be back at start / finish in time for lunch and awards ceremony. The race chairman may elect to extend or eliminate the time disqualification due to adverse river or weather conditions.

The Application: Complete the application. Give two telephone numbers, if possible, and a fax number if you have one.

Race Fees: Cost is $20.00 per racer during the pre-registration period of June 15 to September 1, and $25.00 per racer after September 1.

The Waiver: The Waiver of Liability must be signed and will be made available with race registration information and at the race registration booth. If the participant is under the age of 18, then his or her parent or guardian must complete and sign the waiver.

The Course: The Trinity River Challenge start / finish is the concrete boat ramp at McInnish Park in Carrollton. The course is 5.9 miles upstream to turn around a bouy at Hebron Parkway bridge and return to the start / finish line at McInnish Park.

Directions To Start / Finish Line: The Start / Finish line is at McInnish Park boat ramp on the Elm Fork of the Trinity River in Carrollton. Take IH 35E to the Sandy Lake Road / Whitlock Lane exit (Exit 444), and then go West approximately 1 to 1.5 miles. McInnish Park entrance will be on the left (just before crossing the Trinity River bridge). Turn in to the left and proceed about 50 yards, then turn right on the first park road, and follow it under Sandy Lake Road to the parking lot at the Trinity River boat ramp.

River Clean Up: Dallas Downriver Club has river clean up trips the two Saturdays before the race. You are invited to join us if you would like to help or just look at the course.
