On Saturday, September 20, after our race and lunch we will have our raffle drawing for prizes donated by race sponsors. Prizes will include gift certificates for river trips, cabin, RV and tent camping, a Zavarel Racing Equipment single blade paddle and many other items. Tickets for the raffle are $1.00 each, 6 for $5.00 or 13 for $10.00.
Of special interest will be a separate raffle for not one, but TWO raffle boats. These include an Old Town Expedition, which is a 16' 9" polylink hull that is the same boat as the traditional Dicsovery 169, except that this one was branded for Bass Pro Shops to sell. The boat comes with two Carlisle Golden Light Paddles and two PFDs. ![]() Old Town Expedition tandem canoe The other boat is an Old Town Rush, a solo sit-inside kayak that is akin to the Old Town Otter. It was donated by Sportsman's Warehouse, and will come with a paddle and PFD. You might want to drop by Sportsman's Warehouse on Hebron Parkway just east of IH 35 in Lewisville and say "Thank you" to store manager Scott Johns and camping manager Justin Tillinghast for their most generous contribution to our raffle. The boat pictured below is not the one that will be raffled, which will be a blue and white version. ![]() Old Town Rush solo kayak Tickets for the boat raffle are $5.00 each, or 5 for $20.00, and you have two chances to win a boat this year, so buy plenty of tickets to help support the environmental and access rights causes to which our raffle proceeds are given. Tickets are available from club officers, at meetings, at the October 13 river cleanup and at McInnish Park race headquarters on race day, October 20. You do NOT have to be present to win a boat, but you do have to purchase a ticket! |
