The main hot spring pool at Hot Springs, San Rocendo Canyon. A layover day here is to die for.

Something this ugly in such a beautiful desert oasis cannot be ignored. Diesel-powered pump not 20 paces upstream of the main pool. The ground all around the pump is saturated with diesel or kerosene. The pump feeds a miles-long plastic pipe for livestock at Rancho San Rocendo up the canyon. There is talk of buying the ranch owner a solar-powered pump to replace this one. If you have more information or want to assist in correcting this blight, please email Richard Grayson. (Where is the Nature Conservancy when you need them?)

Berlander ash trees in Palmas Canyon attract the Monarch butterfly migration in October, Mile 46

Looking toward the river, a view of San Francisco Creek, mile 66. There are some really interesting stories of awesome floods in this creek.
