Please join the Dallas Down River Club for an "Urban Paddle" event on Saturday, July 11, 2020. We will meet at Rowlett Rd. bridge over Lake Ray Hubbard, and then paddle up Rowlett Creek for a few miles and back. After paddling, we will stop along the shore and have a picnic lunch around noon. Please bring a picnic lunch, folding chairs or picnic blanket, sunscreen, drinking water, and a life jacket.
This should be an easy trip, and it is ideal for families with children or paddlers wanting to have a leisurely paddle on a Saturday morning. This trip open to the general public - not just DDRC members.
Directions: From Dallas- Take IH 30 East to the Bobtown Rd exit. Turn left at the light and continue on Roan Rd (Bobtown becomes Roan on the north side of IH 30). Follow Roan Rd to Rowlett Rd and turn RIGHT. Take the last left before crossing the bridge. This is the Put In/Take Out. If you have a kayak dolly, bring it as we may have to carry the boats a bit depending on the water level.
While we have never had any problems it is advisable not to leave valuables in sight inside your vehicles. Store valuables in the trunk or out of sight, and lock your doors.
Bring boats that are suitable for flatwater, PFD's (lifejackets), paddles (a spare is recommended), a whistle or other signalling device, throwbag, clothing for warm, dry conditions, camp chair, plate(s), flatware, drinking cup and some food item to share for the potluck lunch. A small cooler for drinks may be carried in your boat, if desired
Bring something for the potluck lunch. There are no restrooms or running water at this put in. Bring chairs and some shade if you have any. Bring plenty of beverages, but remember - NO GLASS OR FOAM POLYSTYRENE STYROFOAM CONTAINERS!
This is an Urban Paddle and no alternative plans in case of flooding or inclement weather.
